She can't remember how she ends up bloodied, beaten half to death on a deserted doorstep in the middle of the night, but she can remember him, bringing her in. He's a little reserved but she doesn't mind, especially as they have something in common: neither one is supposed to exist outside of nightmares and folklore. Few people know Maria exists.
