“I am not going back to that pink, glittery, cliché named place of yours. Ever!” I almost shouted in irritation. I thought I was done with that abhorrent place. I thought I was done with fairytales, after all I’m not a stupid kid anymore. I also thought my mom and aunt were finally taking my side after hours of arguing.

But I thought wrong.

Riley Summer was once a girl who believed in wishes upon stars coming true, happily after in real life, fate and destiny. But that all changed when Nick Mason, her best friend and first love, broke her heart by ditching her to be friends with the in-crowd just when she thought there was something more between them. Bitter and broken, she vowed never to believe in fairytales, never to be associated with anything that’s related to happily ever after and to never speak to Nick again.

Summer of junior year, Riley planned to have a fun summer with her best friends. She planned to go to the beach, search for colleges, eat hot dogs in Central park, and maybe even take a few summer classes at the university. She had it all mapped out.

All that changed when she begrudgingly takes the job her aunt offered her at Fairytale Weddings. Now she’s answering phones with a fake animated voice and getting coffee for her aunt. She was dying for some excitement.

Her wish came true in a drop of a blue pin.
