But it seemed that no matter how much she helped him, Pepper wasn't able to get through to Tony. Not helping their problems, a new threat came to be; a powerful terrorist leader named the Mandarin has been responsible for multiple bombings. Tony fears that Pepper might leave him and take Emma with her because she's had enough, especially when she gets visited by an old interest, Killian. After Happy Hogan was severely injured by one of the bombings, an angry Tony gave a threatening promise to Mandarin on the news, which later caused a terrorist attack on Tony's own house, with Pepper and Emma inside. After the chaos of the media dubbed "Civil War" dies down, Tony is left to pick up the pieces. He's a mess, but he's trying to be better for Peter.
