How does a weirdo, background blending, outcast become the survivor of the most horrific events his small town has ever seen?

I didn't like how I decided to present this story a couple of years ago, so I wanted to use the knowledge I've gained over these last few years to build this story into something that's more digestible and more fun to read, please let me know what you guys think about this revision.
