The palace was a place of her dreams, but not because of the Emperor and promises of power. But her dream of becoming a  songwriter that she nurtured from young, her father used it to teach her music. 

But as she is accepted, she
becomes deeply embroiled in the turmoils of the inner court and the imperial court. Even if she wasn't a concubine or a part of the inner palace, but she finds herself deep in them. 

From the moment of her entry, she was meant to make a choice between who to support. Even if she herself does not want it. 

All of it was too much for her to bear, and she needs to come to a decision. Continue staying here and pursuing her dreams in this court of danger, or choose to leave and give up all hope of seeing it complete.

Set in Tang Dynasty, on a small farm in China, Peizhi Jiang, lives a quiet life with her family far from the outside world. Her mixed race background prevents her from stepping foot off the farm, having to occupy herself with mundane tasks. Including her husband, who is the kindest man on the outside but harbors a vengeful spirit that consumes him whole on the inside. Something isn't right about him. He's always gone. He always meets with suspicious people and discusses acts of war. There's always red spots on his clothes when he returns. There's always a rumor surrounding his name. He'd even once offered Peizhi a chance annul their marriage and never look back. And hidden under their bed, is a red tassel attached to a gold bar inscribed with characters and a red dragon that always brings out a mixed reaction once revealed.
