Waking up from a car accident to find out you're dead and now have to spend eternity in heaven as as a cherub (an angel who died before they hit 18) would be a disconcerting experience for most.
Now imagine you also have to stay at school and take your A levels in a school with a teacher who is literally hundreds of years old. Forever.
Yeh, not fun.
But doing further maths puzzles for eternity are the least of Gabriel's problems. There's dissent amongst the ranks of angels, mysterious supernatural beings appearing in the mortal world with ill intent, and where the heck has God got to?

The angel race exists up in the Heavens above the fluffy clouds that people on Earth see. The angels have wings along with some powers to make their job a little bit easier. Their job is to help humans with problems such as depression. They help them through their tough times, to offer them support when they feel like they have no one. These angels are known as Watchers up in Heaven. Eva Grace has been training her whole life to be a Watcher. She has studied the history of angels, the history of humans along with the developments they have made, and she has been training on how to fight demons. Her ancestors have watched the fall of the Roman Empire and one of her ancestors helped a battle general during that time. It's her dream to be as great as the others, to have her story written in the history books to come. And it just might. ------------- Note: I got this idea from a story I was reading. "This is an Angel girl named Maisie Lark. She hasn't ever stepped foot into the 'real world'. Attempting to break the lock is useless and I have the key. I've extended the olive branch. Maisie's your motive. Come find me when you're ready." Cecilia Star has been alive long enough to know what it's like to be a demon in the human realm, but she's also been alive long enough to cope with her everyday life. But when she wakes up handcuffed to a strange Angel she's never met before, she's thrown for a loop. Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves. Maybe running from the past isn't the right choice and perhaps, maybe even a Demon and Angel could fall in love too. (Entered in the Open Novella Contest 2022 under prompt 79. What can you say about a girl who was supposed to die tragically young? That her guardian angel got distracted while writing her life code and inadvertently sent her into an infinite loop, a quantum uncertainty of sorts, packed with bonus features. This sort of stuff can create minor issues for the rest of Creation, issues which, of course, need to be ironed out, but there is nothing that can't be fixed with good team spirit and a can do attitude, especially if you're not unreasonably inflexible about the laws of physics. Don't worry about breaking reality, you can always make yourself a new one, or several, and improve the energy efficiency of the electromagnetic spectrum in the process.
