The day that Athos was born it was decided that as heir of la Fere he was to get the best education that money could buy, so at the age of eight years he was sent to the most prestigious boarding school in all of Europe. 

Professor Treville finds a little boy in the court of miracles and remembering a promise he had made a long time ago decides to give the boy a small chance at a better life in the form of a scholarship. 

Aramis is a bit of a problem child and his father decides that the life of a priest isn't for his younger son, so he decides that maybe sending him far, will shape him up a bit. 

Alexandre D'Artagnan has been saving money all his life and with the death of his son's mother he decides to send his boy to the school were a friend of his works. 

Athos, Porthos, Aramis and D'Artagnan are as different as one can be, but they managed to make the best of friends one can hope for.
