"How the hell can coffee be pretty?" I ask, glaring at her latte art. "That's not even coffee." "Given the fact that I didn't add sugar, it's pretty much coffee." "How can a latte not have sugar? What the actual hell?" "You just said the air was crisp." "So? That actually makes sense." "Well, how can air be crisp?" "Oh, I don't know. But it's an expression." "Well," she retorts, slamming her hand on the table as if to make it final, "pretty coffee is now an expression." ___________________ Eugene is fifteen, smart, and moving to Germany. I took a tiny step back but the grip didn't loosen. I decided to look up and meet the eyes of who those warm and comforting hands belonged to. I was met with the deepest blue eyes I have ever seen in my life. He was much taller than me and had the silkiest looking brown, almost black colored hair. That made me want to run my fingers through it. He was absolutely beautiful. There was something about his eyes that made them so captivating. We just stared into each other's eyes in silence before he decided to break the silence. "You alright?" He said with a concerned look upon his face. Maybe this new change wouldn't be so bad after all. She thought. -------------------------- Could Tate, a girl who has been through a lot, and River, a boy wanting to move on, find comfort and reassurance in each other? Or will they drive each other to a point of no return?
