Chapter 1 - Shayley's POV:

It was a hot summer night. I was 13 at the time My family and I were watching a movie. I snuggled against my dad, and hugged him. My parents were the kindest, most caring people I've ever known. They did anything for me, and I appreciated them so much. I was so positive around them, because I wanted to let my parents know that I loved them. That's the best way to live your life.
After a few minutes, my dad got out of bed.
"I'm gonna get some popcorn." He dad announced.
"I'll go make sure he does it right." My mom says, as they both walked out, and down the stairs.
I lay down, closing my eyes. Finally, it was summer. School was the most stressful and terrifying thing in my life. I couldn't even believe I lived through it. It was hell, real hell.
I snuggled into the pillow. After a few minutes, I drifted asleep. Nothing could ruin my relaxed mood now.
"AHHHHH!" I heard a shriek coming from downstairs, and a loud noise right after. I quickly jumped out of bed, and raced down the stairs. A feeling of fear rushed through me, causing my whole entire to shake. I could not believe my eyes. No, this wasn't happening. Tears ran down my cheeks, as I fell to the cold hard floor. They were gone.
