Confused and jaded since graduate school, Esa is willing to go to extremes to find her true purpose.

She attends a weeklong art festival in the desert where she meets a middle-aged shaman who tells her he can help her, but first she must do everything he says. When she agrees, he sends her off on a "Vision Quest" in Black Rock City.

But the city isn't as friendly as she imagined. At her first stop, an angry gypsy magician curses her with blindness.

The only way to undo the spell is to drink a special tea out in the deep dark desert before sunrise. But when the tea gets stolen, Esa loses her only protector and must face her biggest fear: journeying out in the darkness alone.

Esa must fight off her inner demons and the physical brutality of the desert's conditions, to regain her vision. But above all, she must establish her faith in the cosmos and its plan for her life on Earth.

"Alright Mr. Steinson you can pay Franny. Let us know if any problems come up." She opened the door and smiled past his ear, her fake customer service persona back. Hammer frowned, he wanted her to let her guard down with him and relax. He walked to the door and stopped in front of her.
