Lillian Belle Smith was 10 years old when IT happened. The terrible. The secret.
"What do you want for breakfast sweetie?" My mom asked.
"I'm not.... hungry," I said. I wasn't lying, but not because I was sick. it was far worse than that.
Of course moms usually know when something is wrong. So she walked over and put the back of her hand on me while saying, "Are you sure? What's wrong?"
"Nothing, nothing.... I'm just not hungry," I was lying. I hated doing it but, I HAD to... I had to.
"Lilly," she looked at me sternly, "you need to tell me what's wrong." she laid her hands on my shoulders.
"NOTHING IS WRONG. OK? NOTHING!" I screamed, as a tear rushed down my face. I pushed off her hands, ran to my room, and slammed the door.
