In a dystopian world fueled with a mechanic obsession, the modern day we once knew is no longer. The continents are split up and lead by self-proclaimed dictators and each is an enemy of the other. The era that lead up to the fall of mankind became engulfed in technology, soon falling under a robotic overloard that was rumored to have mysteriously shut down. With the world driven apart, people run free to do what they want and the ever-present threat of a robotic uprising looms overhead.
This is the story of Rose, a teenage girl living in the age of steampunk. Her life is as quirky as it comes. Machinery and contraptions bustle throughout the land and creativity flourishes.
On an outing with her sister, Rose falls victim to a terrible incident that rids her of speaking. She gets carried away by a mysterious man that claims to have turned her into a cyborg. He warns her nothing will ever be the same and that she cannot return to her previous life.
During talk of an uprising, Rose's mother falls ill to a new and deadly type of virus, with her only chance of getting medical help being in the farthest and most infamous place. Rose takes the risk of being caught and travels during radical riots and through the most ominous of places just to reach the Capitol where she may find much more than she bargained for.
