The girl has lived in the tunnels her whole life.  She does not have a someone called a "mother", nor have people called "family".
Hazel is an illegal twin.  She does not know of the world outside of her house, but she does know of the family that resides within.
One day Hazel's secret is found out, and the girls' worlds collide, leaving them both to question things they've believed all their lives.
