Shy, yet sarcastic 17 year old Yani wanted a normal summer full of Netflix and serving caffeinated beverages to teenage girls at her local Starbucks.
When her mother surprises her with two tickets for her and her best friend Margot to visit her father in the Hamptons, things get a little wild for Yani's taste.
Parties for the richest and beverages for the busiest take over her thoughts along with the mysterious Max Bruwin when he steps foot in the new, high class coffee house she works at.
Summer's about to get interesting for Yani...
-------------
I sit at the counter waiting for the next short, preppy, white girl to walk in for the day. Margot and I have been counting, were at 14 so far.
The bell over the door rings knocking me out of my haze. I stand at the register waiting for the new costumer to round the corner.
Instead of a blonde, tan girl in high hells and crop top, a young man walks in slightly hunched over while looking at his phone. He wears a white button up shirt and a pair of dark denim jeans in contrast to the other men I've seen in here.
He stops in front of the register while still staring at his phone. I wait for multiple seconds before he looks up at me with anger etched into his irises.
"What?" I shrug.
"My usual," he responds in a deep husky voice.
"I'm sorry?" I question again.
He rolls his eyes, clearly angered, "Coffee please."
He looks me dead in the eyes and for the first time in the one and a half week I've been here, I see something new.
Buried beneath his hazel eyes I find something I've been looking for this whole trip...
Difference.
