Resurrection is the first book in the Vessels of Raziel, a series that takes place fifteen years after The Mortal Instruments, in Seattle, Washington. It contains characters from The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments.
    
    Scarlette Rosewater is revealed to be a Shadowhunter after her father goes missing and her aunt winds up dead. With no recollection of the runes on her skin, or how they got there, when tested she shows signs of being raised as a Shadowhunter. While clinging to Oliver as a part of her old self, Scarlette is forced to move into the Seattle Institute, which is run by Nia and Jonathan Lightwood. A friend to familiarity, Scarlette's beliefs are challenged one by one as she learns more about the Shadow World and her past. Dangerous missions and endeavors to find her father bring the group of Shadowhunters together as they learn to fight by each others' sides. As more and more information accumulates on someone who names himself Raziel, Scarlette's world begins to fall apart as she tries to balance who she was, and who she must become in order to save her father. Warlocks have a universal rule that everything has a price, no matter how small, but at what cost can Scarlette save what's left of her family?
