Joey Avery appears to have everything. Happiness. Loving parents. A life all mapped out. But it's all a lie. An entire life based on a lie. First of all, she's a her, not a him, though it gets people confused all the time, since her name is typically given to boys. Second of all, she isn't happy, and she clearly doesn't have the perfect life she pretend to have. She's beautiful and fun to be around, but she's also full of secrets, full of dark thoughts, full of nightmares. She's fighting to survive.
Xander Wells is a complete act, he's the kind of guy you see on paper, but never meet in real life. Dark, mysterious, the biggest I-don't-give-a-fuck attitude when it comes to girls, he's a fighter. Not because he has to be, because he wants to be. He lives for a little bar fight, for the thrill of being in a boxing ring and hitting the crap out of other dudes.
So what happens when two people, trying to be things they aren't, find comfort in each other?
