Lt Karl Buschell knows he has little time to live. Defusing unexploded bombs in London devastated by the Blitz leaves him with a life expectancy of just seven weeks.

Then he meets a girl. Crying, heartbroken, curled up with torn stockings in an RAF washroom. He knows her. Everyone does. You can't pass a cinema or magazine stand without seeing her face. She's done everything she can to claw her way to the top of Hollywood and she isn't intending to stop there. 

He enters her world of glamour and scandal, knowing their relationship is doomed and broken from the start. But behind the facade, he starts to realise how truly sinister and dark the movies truly are.
