Madelyn is 18, her parents don't get along very well, she lives with her mother. Until one day her mother dies of  brain tumour, she goes to live with her dad then. He soon marries another woman named Samantha, Samantha's very self cautions, strict, and picks on Madelyn for her mistakes, Angered by her father and stepmother she leaves the house at night to go see her best friend Trevor, only to be kidnapped. She's faced too much tragedy already, and when she hears Trevor's moving its like someone's drowned her completely, mind, heart, body and soul. She manages to live with her dad for the time being. She suffers depression and suddenly crosses the line from being one of the top smartest kids to the ones with C's. She won't tell anyone her problems, she keeps them locked, and there's only one person that can mend her heart together again.
