“I am no more a monster than your father is, Cass. You remember that the next time you get in trouble and need someone to bail you out.” He snapped his teeth at her and pulled away, retracting his teeth quickly. “Or the next time you feel like talking at one in the morning. You may have a gun, a badge, and cuffs, but you don’t have a cape. You’re not a superhero, Cass. You’re not invincible. You can still get hurt. You can still die.”
