Vampires are real. They live in the dark crevices that no one ever thinks to check twice, trying to survive in a world that doesn't want them alive. They are lethal, and they will do anything to get to you.

It's Dan's job to hunt them down. Or, it will be, once he's finished training for it. It's in his blood, generation after generation of the famous Howell vampire hunters weighing on his shoulders. It's a lot to live up to for an eighteen year old kid still in his third year at the Katteri Institute of Demonology.

But then the bodies start showing up. Humans who have been slaughtered beyond recognition, covered in bite marks and tracks of ice. It has become the most gruesome string of murders seen in decades, and they're getting nowhere closer to finding the culprit.

Someone is leaving clues for Dan, though, and if he can figure them out, then he'll become the best of his family, the first in years to catch such a notorious killer. Hard enough to do by itself, but when he gets caught up with the strange new guy in skinny jeans and a leather jacket, things become difficult beyond repair.
