Do You Get Deja Vu Too?
2 years following the covid-19 lockdown, 16 year old Isabel De La Cruz feels fumbled and overwhelmed about school re-opening again. Sure, she might be attending Hollywood Performing Arts High, which is a dream come true, but daily encounters with her ex, Harry Goldwyn, is what she loathes about the situation. He's already let her down twice and she's not willing to hurt again, all for the name of love. For Harry, what once felt like home sweet home, now feels like foreign land, with the occasional hint of deja vu. He only moved back from New York in hopes of winning Isabel's heart back. What will it take for Isabel to act less harsh towards the dumbfounded boy and finally forgive him for all his wrongs he never meant to make in the first place? All Harry wants is another chance to make it up to the only girl he's ever truly ever loved. Third's the charm, but is this all too much to ask? Revolving around the fictional setting of Hollywood Performing Arts in Los Angeles, 2 teenagers and their friends stumble through what seems to be a coming of age coveted in clarity. 4 years truly is a long time for everything to change since their initial encounter. My Confessional
Writing a memoir at only fifteen years old has taught me a lot. Giving me the time to reflect on the lessons I learned the hard way and the mistakes I've made thus far. I learned, if there is at least two sides to every story, there is at least two sides to every person. What could be a smile is a broken heart in a deeper reality. We all live in a society where nothing is as it seems, the people being more complex and astonishing than the countless novels we read. And in a world ruled by tragedies, we are the survivors. Getting through our own history, more important to us then what we read in school. We take our story one page at a time, word by word because in the end, it will all be worth it. I dedicate this memoir to the people who have been with me on my journey of self discovery, even if only in spirit. Mom- Who has made non stop sacrifices to ensure my happiness and well being. Nothing would be possible without you! Grandma- Who has inspired me and made a huge influence to the person I am now and who I'll be in the future. Callie- My own personal slave, illustrator, editor and full time best friend. You know I love you <3 Ariana Grande- My celebrity inspiration, showing me that it's ok to "love who you love, no one can judge, follow your heart and don't give up", getting me through the long and lonely nights. Be sure to buy her new album "Moonlight", hopefully to be released this year and her new fragrance "Ari" in accordance to the "Be You" campaign. Adam Young (Of Owl City)- My first artist I listened to, your songs make me think of the past and the new adventures to come. Sam Tsui- The album "Make it up" taught me to not be scared of not knowing what's going to happen next. Being young and naive Isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it brings way to new experiences, to be vulnerable and crying doesn't make you any less of a person. Evolution
There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. I am putting this out for the whole world to see because I hope everyone will learn from my experience. People can see. We have no excuses to continue living our lives in ignorance. ...WARNING... I saw him first. He's everything I swore off and everything I shouldn't want. It's a new city, the fresh start I needed, so why do I feel like I'm experiencing some sick form of deja vu. He's perfect for her, everything she's ever wanted. Her friendship is everything I've ever needed, but I saw him first. Everything is going as I planned. My football dreams are beyond what I could've imagined, I'm killing it in school, and I've got the perfect girl. The only problem is, I saw her best friend first. One fleeting moment.
