In the summer of 1918 a tragedy echoed across the world when the Russian Imperial Romanov family was murdered by communists leaving much of the country crying out in mourning. Yet, there was a myth that one daughter, the youngest daughter; the Grand Duchess Anastasia had escaped. Though many disbelieved, for some this would prove to be more than a rumor and it would change their lives forever. Annalisa Peterson, a senior in high school, is dying to get out and move as far away from her family as possible. Not that she has had a rough childhood, but she wants to get away from constantly being expected to be the perfect A student and consistently having to visit her great grandmother who doesn't seem to like her, and oh yeah, doesn't speak a word of English. One final class assignment could change everything that she's ever known, and could literally re-write history. To find out the truth about her family's history, it isn't long before she's digging through old papers, books, photographs, and even travelling to Russia; not to mention getting her heart tangled up with the enemy along the way. April of 1918 the Romanov family finds themselves difficult to adjust to their new isolating life in the small quiet village of Yekaterinburg. Tall wooden fences surround the their new prison, white washed windows so they cannot see the outside. The isolation feels unbearable especially to the young grand duchesses, fear surrounds the family everyday of what will become of their lives, worst of all the new guards are not as polite as they should be. Anya, a girl suffering from amnesia, doesn't remember her past. Her only clue to it is to go to Paris. She teams up with two crooks: Dmitry and Vlad, to escape Russia and go to Paris. To do that, Anya must impersonate the lost Princess Anastasia. But what she didn't know was that a long time pursuer is tailing her to kill Anastasia. --- This is kinda not(?) a fanfiction, but a retelling of a mashup of Disney and Broadway's Anastasia. In playwriting format. --- This is me trying to incorporate all the best scenes (imo) from both the Disney and Broadway stories of Anastasia. eg. Crowd of Thousands, In My Dreams, the love triangle from the BW musical and the magical villian, better plotline, and better ending.
