The Bridge

The year is 2156, six young people wake up in a bunker after being preserved for 100 years. A plague swept across the world after the Third World War. The war killed 2.52 billion people and the plague took out the remaining population. The government knew about the disease and put fifty, eighteen year old people into hibernation/preservation in an effort to save the world.

The teens spent two years undergoing intense military and survival training meant to keep them alive when the time came and they awoke. The teens are paired together as mates, expected to repopulate the earth. Set to wake up 100 years after the plague strikes. When 100 years comes and goes, the people wake up, only six survive.

They were kept underground in a secret bunker, when they manage to get out of the bunker and reach the surface, they are shocked to find the area they knew and lived in destroyed. The building that was above them broken and fallen apart, along with all of the other buildings. They are left instructions and a years worth of supplies per person, giving them fifty years of supplies because of the other forty four people not making it. The only thing in their little town that is perfectly intact is a stone bridge high above a fresh water river. They travel across country in the effort to find a safe haven that is in the letter and instructions that was left for them by the government. The safe haven however, isn't where they thought it would be.
