She is not supposed to know about me until time is right. She's my mate, and every second I have to spend with her and not being able to tell her who she is to me and what she means to me is torture but this is part of my curse, part of my family's curse, the one my grandfather got for the rest of us. To top it off, she has a huge dislike for me, as cliche as it sounds, I have basically made her life a living hell before I ever knew she would be the most important person in my life.
One day she'll know, and that day I'm afraid she'll reject me on the spot, and even though I have stopped with the insults, I have to keep up appearances for the sake of the freaking curse, if she sees me as her mate too soon, we'll both be in danger.
I had met her a few times when I was younger. I had never been close to her and until a couple of weeks ago I had completely forgotten about her. After a massive funeral, my mom announced she was going to be staying with us until graduation.
There's something about her. The way she speaks, the way she walks, even the way she eats. My parents are smitten by her formalities and highly educated manners. I, on the other hand, am not impressed. There is no way my cousin Marty is the image of perfection everyone thinks she is and I'm going to figure out what she's hiding.
