Anybody Jordan loves gets hurt. He believes he is a curse to everyone he meets and that's why he pushes himself away from anyone who tries to get close to him. He isolates himself, becomes a loner and tries so hard to please everyone around him. Especially his parents who might never forgive him for causing his sister's death. He has to keep playing basketball. He's so good at it. He's now well known around the country and scouts are keeping their eyes on him. He's kind of a celebrity now and his parents are loving him more than they ever did. He's relieved. He's doing something right for once. But he doesn't want to play basketball. He wants to take pictures. The beauty of the world draws him in more than anything else has. He wants to capture this beauty through the lens of a camera. This is what he wants to do with his life. Unfortunately, he doesn't dare to think that way. Until he meets Star. A brave, charming, sarcastic, music obsessed girl who steals his heart at first glance. He doesn't want to get close to people but why is he letting his guard down for her? Is he making a big mistake by letting her into his heart, into his life? This is the story of an abused teenage girl, Maddie. Her need to die has become overwhelming and she is trying to find a way to help herself before she does something she may regret. The story is told from her point of view as she recalls all that has happened to her. Maybe telling her story will help her, maybe not. This isn't just any other sob story. This is more realistic. You may even find yourself comparing your life to Maddie's while reading this story. Disclosure: I wrote this as a 13-year-old and the writing is definitely not up to my current standards, but I feel as though changing what I have already written would take away from the emotion I put into this story at 13 years old.
