Prudence Knightley is a sixteen-year-old junior. Her life in the small town she lives in is typical, even with a father for a police officer. Nothing much happens - until a girl in her school goes missing, and is found dead days later, her body bruised and beaten. No reason is known, but the last person to see her, and the top suspect, is the town's teenage criminal - and Prudence's enemy, Avery Watts.

Determined to solve the mystery, Prudence teams up with Avery, as they try to figure it out. But when another girl goes missing, they both realise this mightn't be a coincidence - and they all might be in more danger than they ever thought.
