"When are you gonna get it through your head, Liv?" He asks me, the pieces of his unbroken heart evident in the way his glossy eyes look down at me as he firmly holds my shoulders. "I love you!" he exclaims.
And although I want to bring myself to believe him, I can't. There are just so many reasons for me not to. "I wish I could say the same." I lie, knowing that I did not only step on the broken, uneven pieces of his heart, but feeling the jagged pieces of my own heart cut through my insides as well, grazing my lungs and knocking the air out of me.
The look in his eyes is a look I've never seen on the face of the all too familiar Zayn Malik. He lets go of my shoulders and clears his throat and for the first time in a long time, I can't read him.
