The Diary of the Unknown is nothing more than that, a diary of the unknown. This short story depicts the life and emotional rollercoaster of the narrator. "Essence" as the narrator prefers to be referred to explains his life story and everyday observations from humans and the world around him. He despises the humans and attempts to explain why he truly believes the world is a rotten mess.
