Nathaniel's lute strings whirred to life. His family and friends followed him to the river again. Their glazed eyes didn't blink. They were there, but not there. They all jumped in. Nathaniel stirred from that familiar dream, soaked in a cold sweat. Shutting it out of his mind was easier before it began to come true. He could hardly play a note in public now without his listeners succumbing to violent fits of lust or rage. He could deny it no longer. The lute would bend them to his will, and he had no idea how or why. He feared to play another note without guidance. Only one man could help him now. The Legendary Kapellmeister of Selegna once composed the most glorious music the world had ever known, but now he was practically a ghost and rumored to be insane.
