On the Northside or any place nicer then Southside Chicago love was something pretty it was flowers and chocolate and kindness. Not on the Southside though, not in the places were god had left. Here love is finding the person who will ride with you and die with you who will kill for you and bleed and fight and lie to the cops. You want to love on the Southside, you have to be willing to fight to the death for it because nothing comes easy here. Hailey Ball and Carl Gallagher meet when they're still kids after the abandonment of Hailey's parents, they bond over the deadbeats in their life and the destruction of anything they can get their hands on. They don't realise what they have until it's nearly too late but once they do neither one of them will be going down quietly or without a fight.

After time you realize carl is hitting on you more than his usual creep talk(if you know you know)! You start to catch feelings to but don't tell him, you write a diary entry into you diary about how you feel(it will be in the story). You ask Carl to teach you how to skate board because you want a reason to flirt with him and get even closer to him! One day after you've learned the basics about skate boarding Carl wants to teach you a new trick, you end up skateboarding over a stone and Carl catches you in his arms.... you have to read the story to know more...
