_________

The dragon growled, revealing a set of gleaming teeth. The leaking gash on her wing was forgotten as she fixed her eyes on the girl before her, warning her to not take a second step. Kiara raised her hand to calm the purple dragon, her heart pounding in her chest. Every impulse screamed at her to back away but she stood firm, determined to help the dragon who had helped her. The beast's big blue eyes briefly flickered from the girl to her extended palm. Her muscles tensed. Her growl intensified. Yet Kiara refused to leave.

_________

Long before she had been sucked into a world of dragons, Kiara was home to a spirit of adventure and curiosity. Bending the rules was second nature to her, questioning them was first. Despite this, she had somehow lived a quiet life in her sixteen years of existence. Her rebellious side was a hidden quality that surfaced now and then but never really made a dent. That was until the one school camping trip that changed her life forever.

Hello everyone!

This is a fanfic that I'm writing out of my love for How To Train Your Dragon. My story occurs loosely around the Netflix series (Dragons: Race to the Edge) so any characters from that series do not belong to me. Don't worry if you haven't seen it - you won't need to have watched it to understand the plot.

Anyway, see ya in there! ;D

Howling Echoes - A How to Train Your Dragon Story, The Echoes, Book 1 by DovefIower
92 parts Complete
I could feel a cold, icy gaze barrel straight through my soul. Actual crystal shapes frosted white marked the edges of the creature's vision. A long, thin tail with a thin frost layer gently wrapped around me. Normally I would've run, escape through the trees to the best of my abilities. But I couldn't. The icy blue gaze was hypnotizing. The dragon gently puffed frost in my face. Small, gleaming white teeth caught the snow. No matter how brilliant this dragon looked, however, I couldn't fight back the only other thought that was running through my head. I was gonna die. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kiara has lived on her own for as long as she can remember. But when she finds her fate caught with the Dragon Riders, secrets are uncovered about her identity, and she has to choose between fighting her father...or facing the only friends she'd ever known in battle. Secrets, betrayal, and lies, all circling Kiara's life as she struggles to fit in with the Riders, and find where her fate truly stands. OLD: While I'm very proud for this being my first completed major project, it's still old as hell, several things make 0 sense and there's a lot of random convoluted stuff and little consistency, especially in characters. This was something I wrote to escape when I was down and often sleep-deprived so I just wrote what I felt like in the moment. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO ITS SEQUELS. If that isn't your thing, I wouldn't recommend this.
Haley and the Dragon Riders by Lisa_Foxy
24 parts Complete
Haley is a young girl with an unusual gift. Some would call it a curse. Her? She calls it a convenient nuisance. Together with a dragon no one wants, a pair of wings she has no idea how got there and pretty much no past to speak of she is going on an adventure she could've never imagined. She lived a quiet, relatively ordinary life until a young boy and his unusual dragon intruded on her home. This fateful encounter would change her life forever as she discovers new friends, ["Going somewhere?" The sound of Hiccup's increasingly annoying voice asked as I was leaving. "Ugh.. yes. Away from you guys." I turned my back and continued walking.] Allies she never knew were even possible, ["And the catch?" I asked him skeptically after having heard his offer. "There's no catch. You can trust me. I just have credentials that you don't. And besides, I see potential in your future." He answered.] A love so strong nothing could break it, ["I can't help but love you, even when I try not to." I whispered to myself once I was in the air and far enough away for him to hear me.] And so much more as she embarks on an adventure with Hiccup, Toothless and all their friends. <currently editing a few mistakes here and there. I'll try and get all the updates out relatively soon one after another and won't change the story, just fixing a couple spelling mistakes here and there. All story mysteries that were confusing or went unanswered will most likely be answered in the upcoming sequel> Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters or locations other than my OC's. Every other character, location or other similarities are owned by Dreamworks.
Fading Echoes - The Echoes, Book 2 - HTTYD Fanfiction by DovefIower
34 parts Complete
Aphira had met the dragons when she was very young with her Mother and her brother, Whip. However, she didn't remember it, and not even the stories that her Mother told in vivid detail stirred her memory. But when one day, suddenly several beasts with wings land in the village, and several New Berkians announce that the dragons have returned, Aphira is tugged two ways: To follow in her Mother's footsteps, or to try to find a way to escape the dragon-filled life her Mother once lived. Whip was always fascinated by the stories of the dragons, and unlike his older sister, he remembered his first meeting with the dragons. But when a shocking secret is revealed about his identity and Aphira starts to stray farther and farther away from the life that Whip longs to live, he's tugged in more directions than he could ever imagine were possible...between his sister, himself...and the dragon that his Mother seems to want him to be. As the children of Kiara and Dagur are pulled further apart while the other children of the Riders are bonded closer together, they start to miss the real threat that only Aphira knows are on their borders...the threat that she might choose to side with to survive. Notice: This is a prequel of my first dedicated HTTYD Fanfiction: Howling Echoes. Please read that before reading this to understand some parts of the plot. Notice 2: Half of the characters are owned by Dreamworks! Some of them I made up. Notice 3: If you read Howling Echoes and got REALLY attached to Whiplash, well...you're gonna wanna read this.
