But when he uses sorcery against a school bully, a chain of events is set in motion that will make Owen the target of a ruthless millionaire, get his father arrested, and possibly upend the natural order of the entire world. No pressure.
SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS is a middle-grade fantasy novel that deals with magic in the Internet Age. It is the first in a proposed series that will explain ancient, complicated topics such as spell casting, alchemy, and cryptozoology to the modern young person in an exciting way. Part novel, part "For Dummies" help guide, and every bit a fun, fast-paced adventure, SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS will appeal to fans of J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, and anyone who ever wanted to be a sorcerer, but didn't want to do a bunch of hard, boring work.
This book was published by Inkshares and was hailed as a "great title" by VOYA Magazine, "a charming package and drily funny" by Publisher's Weekly, and "a clever, often hilarious adventure" by Booklist. The Wolf Witch
Sora has no place in the world. She is meant to be a strong warrior, with the ability to shift into a wolf. She is none of those things, and looked down upon because of it. It brings shame to her, it brings shame to her family, and worst of all, it brings shame upon her prideful and strong brother. There is but one person who truly knows and loves her, but does he really? Magic is not the weapon of a warrior, magic is the weapon of a coward. Sora has been told that all her life, but she has magic within her, recently awakened, and so she has begun to doubt it. Still, witchcraft is punishable by death, and so Sora must be careful with her practices, lest she lose all she has. Sora is a better witch than wolf, though not by much, but she still pursues that craft in spite of the dangers. Her place in the world is a dangerous one, but will it last? The world she lives in is a dangerous one, and such a life as hers rarely ends happily. Disclaimer: this is a short prequel, Sora's story does not conclude with this one. If you finish this book and go "oh, that's the end?" it's because it's not the end. I'm writing a trilogy called Mortance that explores the larger world that this takes place in and concludes Sora's story more thoroughly than in this book. Go read that next if you like my writing, thanks. Please leave any and all criticisms you might have, anything you like and anything you dislike, I want to make this as good as I can. P.S. the cover is literally just a drawing I made in physics class, I know it's bad, I'm not an artist.Complete

MC: Here's a How Not to Survive a Hostage Situation: Don't be me. Rule#1 Don't meet a guy fighting against cutlery. Rule#2 Don't get mistaken for someone with talent when you've absolutely none. Rule#3 Don't let a war, a high-stakes revenge plot, and one human weapon disguised as a person wreck your already failing life. (Oh, and don't expect me to tell you my name. You'll have to earn that.) But if you do? Congrats. You're now in my position-trapped, bleeding, and somehow still expected to be the sane one. Trowa: You're not the sane one. MC: Okay, first of all-rude. Second of all, enter Trowa. Trowa: Don't enter me into this. MC: Sigh. He's a questionable ally who moves people like chess pieces. Trowa: Incorrect. I don't play chess with lives. I just... redecorate the board when necessary. MC: Yeah. That's so much better. He plans. I panic. Together, we're one bad decision away from death. Trowa: Two. I have contingencies. MC: Oh, great. So we die second. Fantastic. And if we survive this, I'm going to need therapy. Trowa: You need therapy even if we don't. ################################## She was supposed to be a bystander. Now, she's bleeding in the middle of a war she doesn't understand. A single step-wrong place, wrong time-and now she's entangled in a brutal game of shifting alliances, weaponized secrets, and people who treat lives like collateral. She wanted quiet. Instead, she's dodging kidnappers, advanced tech, and a human weapon in the shape of a too-strategic ally. The worst part? She is not important-just unlucky. And in this kind of game, even those important don't survive long. ################################## For fans of sarcastic narrators, bad decisions, and humor that's basically Percy Jackson... if he grew up, got more cynical, bled more, and forgot how to run away. ##################################
Safe Haven
Matilda Brown has never seen the world outside of the walls. Her community is relatively small, at least compared to the outside world, and yet she's still somehow an outcast. Everyone else around her has powers - ones with fire or speed or the ability to speak every language known to man - and her mother even had two! However, she's stuck with none. Will she ever get her power? Will she ever recognize the abuse from her captor Mr. Osmond and escape him? Benjamin Langley is a university student navigating the loss of his best friend, when he discovers his ability to see the future. Soon after, he's taken by force to the community, and comes to see and entire world he had no knowledge of. Meeting Matilda forces him to consider the fact that escaping quietly might not work out. Cameron Thomas doesn't remember a time when he wasn't in the community, but he's starting to. Or, at least he thinks he is? Like Matilda, he too struggles with his power, not in finding it, but rather in controlling it. Will he get it right when it matters? Oliver Hart is a charismatic veterinarian who discovers he can suddenly hear the animals thoughts. It would've been a powerful career booster if he hadn't been kidnapped and taken to the community. There, he uses his charisma to make a group of friends he'll never forget. The four must fight tooth and nail to make it out of dangerous situations and discover their own feelings along the way.Complete

✧The Earthe of the Elves✧
"Upstairs!" I hear a yell and pounding footsteps. I crawl out of the window until I'm hanging from my hands. I take a breath. I let go. ~ Living in a small town with a single mother, Mia Glenn never expected anything special to come of her life. She never thought she would go on an adventure as harrowing as the stories she read. Until one day she narrowly avoids being kidnapped, discovering in the same day a whole new universe that she is supposedly a part of. As she navigates the elven world of Earthe with the help of a particularly attractive elf boy, she learns secrets about her identity and her father's, of whom she believed had ditched her and her mom at an early age. Soon Mia discovers that peace isn't as easy as it seems, and while Earthe may be beautiful, there are dark parts that are creeping back to the light. Even in a world of perfect beings such as elves, lies can be spun as precisely as an arrow can pierce a target, and evil can sneak up on you when you least expect it. Mia is used to reading about this kind of stuff, not living it. Safe to say she finds herself in one hell of an adventure. - - TW: if you need a tw for fighting, violence, weapons, blood, death, etc. I would read with caution (I don't get into any gory details, but there are scenes w/ this) I will put tw's for the more violent scenes.Complete

Another Stupid Spell
Another Stupid Spell is a first person high fantasy novel, the likes of which hasn't been seen in 60 years. The tone and vocabulary of the story shifts as our narrator, Sorch the orc, finds ways to enhance his intelligence. You get to grow as Sorch grows, learn as he learns, and share his most intimate thoughts. Sorch is an orc mage in a world where orcs are cursed with stupidity every time they cast a spell. The only spell he can safely cast is Enhance Intelligence, which boosts his IQ for a fraction of a second before the curse drains it all away again. Normally casting such a spell would be pointless, but Sorch's tribe has found a way to benefit. Magic that is cast near a mysterious artefact called the 'Voodoo Engine' causes invisible hands to appear, and these hands get work done for his tribe. Sorch is a slave to the Voodoo Engine, casting a single spell over and over again to avoid being beaten by the chief's warrior caste. While foraging for food on one fateful night, our hero happens upon two human mages who are in big trouble. He saves their lives, and in return they give him an amulet that will make his life easier. Unbeknownst to the humans, their gift grants Sorch the power to break the cycle of intelligence drain and physical abuse. With the help of his friend and mentor, Shaman, Sorch becomes a real mage. Sorch leaves his swamp and embarks on a series of incredibly exciting and dangerous adventures. During his travels he encounters horrible injury, magical treasures, love, snow, university admissions tests, a plot against the Kingdom, and then of course he saves the world. Or does he? Be prepared to rethink everything you know about thinking. If your own intelligence was the fuel that your magic ran on, how brightly would you dare to burn?Complete
