A frail boy staggered onto the blinding white road. Snow dropped gently, but the sound was magnified against the deafening silence of the mute village. Even the birds refused to sing, struck in awe at the surreal picture of the human buildings. Continuing down the road, he ignored the slight pull of the curtains and the last quiet echo of the door. He felt the heat of the invisible gazes from their all too perfect hiding areas pierce into his back, neck, and eyes. The village shuddered at the sight of those bright, silver eyes, angered by the boys presence, but too afraid to chase him out.
