Jack Atlas is a Homo Magi who does a lot of street performing to pass the time. He's old friends with Zatanna Zatara and has been mentoring Zatanna's cousin, Zachary Zatara. During one of his performances he sees a familiar face in the crowd, Zatanna herself. Happy to see his friend again after such a large time he also wonders why her sudden appearance. The two had parted on pretty poor terms the last time they saw each other. It's then revealed that Zatanna wants both Jack and Zachary to join the Team, but there's some conditions that Jack has before he'll join the Team, and all Zatanna has to do is say the magic word.
