On a remote island in the Pacific ocean, off the coast of Japan, a breakthrough technology has been developed. Virtual reality, unlike anything ever seen by the public, is in it's final stages of development. Six young graduate students, the brightest minds in their respective fields of computer programming, graphic design, psychology, artificial intelligence, neuroscience, and media studies have been selected for an internship at this remote facility for a substantial salary, and a strict contract of complete discretion. What they discover is beyond their comprehension, and boggles their attempts at rationalization. This so called "virtual reality" is created by a super advanced quantum AI with capabilities beyond anything ever thought possible. It can create worlds and universes beyond our wildest dreams. But is it safe? And just how powerful is this computer that for all intents and purposes, is essentially a living, thinking entity of supreme intelligence?

In my world you have to be one of the Elite. After graduating from 8th grade it is a shitshow. You wait long intense nights filled with fear because you know one day they will come for you. They will get you mark my words on that. One day you will be ripped away from the comforts of your own home and shipped away to the cruise. None of the adults speak of what happens on the cruise. I can tell based off of the haunted look in there eyes it's nothing good. I've heard tall tales of a place full of hopes and dreams. They call this place High school. High school is just that though...a dream. In the real world all we have is the cruise. The cruise where some never return from. In my world it is survival of the fittest. Eighteen year old gamer Mato Takahara is put in a dangerous position after taking part in a failed BETA test for the world's first virtual reality MMO game(Blades in Paradise) which resulted in him gaining dual personalities due to the AI that established his connection with the game world. The AI which has now gained sentience begins to struggle against Mato for dominance over his soul. Because of this, Mato finds himself embarking on a perilous path in-game in order to master his soul and as thus, restore the thin line which lies between the game world and reality. He in turn; encounters several friends along the way as well as several foes which he must overcome to reach his goal. Yet, the overall question remains... Can Mato gain mastery of his soul in time or will he sink into the abyss as his AI counterpart takes over his soul? To accomplish this task he enlists the help of Kayu, a seemingly carefree dark elf(a third personality in form of his in game avatar) to go ahead and exploit the limits of the human soul. "Jeez! Don't go dumping all your expectations on me damnit!" Sigh....
