Follows the patients, doctors, and nun who occupy the Mental institution in Massachusetts in 1964. Sister Esther and Sister Kate maintain the institution that was founded by Monsignor Kevin Olusola to treat and house the mentally and criminally insane. Psychiatrist Dr. Avi Kaplan and scientist Dr.  Darrien Koop, treat the patients within the facility. Patients include transgender journalist Mitch Grassi, accused serial killer Scott Hoying, and alleged murderer Kirstin Maldonado.
