"They tell you that inside the enclosure's walls is the safest place in the world. But little did we know it'd be the most dangerous."

*****

After a disease breaks out across the globe, killing over 90% of the human population, the government create a walled-in civilization to protect the remaining survivors called the Enclosure.

Fifteen years after the outbreak, Kyla Reyes is chosen to participate in her enclosure's annual Mortal Trials. These tests were created by the government to teach children and teens the hardships of the "old world." The Trials are simple. You survive, you move on to the next round. Kyla is focused on one thing - getting through these Trials in one piece. But will that all change when she runs into one of her biggest threats in the competition, Kaiden Ryder? Or more importantly, will she break her number 1 rule?

To trust someone?

Or worse...

To fall for someone?

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Genre: Science Fiction, Romance, Post-apocalyptic, Dark romance Length: 84,468 words This book has been published on Amazon. There are more threats out here than we anticipated, and they're all after you-" Lukas' voice erupted into static and chunks... I glared at the man in all black as the light continued to beam and blind me. Without my glasses it was actually painful. And then there was silence. My bare feet hit the metal floor of wherever we had jumped to, and I put my hand up to shield my eyes from the vicious attack of bright light. Not again."
