Yukari Maiko and Syaoran Tatana were friends for what seemed like ever. They were always together, the closest of friends since they met each other whilst still in kindergarten. It was a wonderful time then and now and they could have stayed close forever, but forever only lasted 10 years..
Now at the age of 18, Syaoran can start training and preparing for the Vaditum, the initiation test of WillowCrest Academy. If he passed this, then he would be able to go on to CrescentWing Uni, his ultimate goal and dream. During the very last test, he failed it due to a very special treasure of his.
He was overcome by disappointment, desperation and anger and he took it all out on Yukari. If that wasn't enough, he even wished that he'd never met her, that she never existed. These very few words, fueled by the anger raging in him, became a spell, a wish and it came true.

Yukari vanished, and no one remembers her as if she never existed, not even her own parents. Only Syaoran can see and sense her now and it just makes him feel even more guilty for what he had carelessly done.
Now he will do anything, travel to any new world, give up any of his power, to get his Yukari back, and he won't stop until he gets what he wants. He knows that even when he gets her back, nothing will be the same again.
