Only the very oldest people remember a time when people could see in color, ever since the massive nuclear explosion in Unmei, 2017. Millions died due to the explosion, with billions affected all over the world. The radiation caused cancer to those in a 2.5k km radius around Unmei, while the rest of the world believed they were safe of the radiation. Until the first child born after the incident was aware of its surroundings.

That child could not see color.

Birth after birth, every child was born without being able to see color. People worldwide start panicking as humans who were able to see color slowly died and disappeared from the face of the Earth.

75 years later, nearly the whole world is color-blind except for the very oldest.
