Irina Taylor, a girl who lives in the 1940s with the gift to see any human's soul, goes from a social outcast to a prophecy come true. But there is a realm that coexists with ours, invisible to the majority of mankind; only a select few can see through the veil dividing the worlds. Little does she know, Irina's gift makes her vulnerable to the horrors that exist under that veil. The young oracle must find a way into the other realm to fulfil her fate and make it out with her own soul still intact. However, the Curator will stop at nothing to keep his souls in the other realm and add Irina to his assemblage of Dark Shadows. ________ PREVIEW: "We call him the Curator." Anthony shivered after he said it like the name itself was powerful enough to elicit fear amongst the Dark Shadows. "What does he collect?" I asked. "Us." I swallowed hard. "And you think I am some prophecy come true? Someone who can save you from him?" "Why would the Curator bother with just a girl?" The prophecy had haunted me my whole life, even if I was oblivious to it until a few weeks ago. The dark figures lurking around every corner reminded me of my differences from other people, from my family. The Shadows used to frighten me. Now, they were just a reminder that old folktales can be twisted into a big lie, but the truth could be much uglier. "So will you stay and help us?" Anthony asked. Deep down, I already knew I had made up my mind. This was my fate, and there is no use trying to run from something certain. "I'll stay."
