"I'm ready to go home now," Tinsley spoke through heavy breath. 

The crimson pool expanded across the snow, filling her nostrils with a sickening metallic smell. She closed her eyes and recalled dinner around the plankwood kitchen table, Addie and Matthew beside her. To see the sun rising behind Pan's Peak, shedding rays of light across the lawn of the Livings Ranch. Pleasant Valley had always been just that: pleasant.

But that was before her parents disappeared. Before Matthew was lost, swallowed up in the perils of Alpin Wood. 

And---oh, God-- now this.

No, things would never be the same, and there was no going home now.

After some rustling inside the bathroom, the door finally opens and I almost drop the clothes I'm holding. Kameron only has a towel wrapped around his waist, droplets of water dripping from his hair, down his chest, and disappearing underneath his towel. I try not to follow the path of one of the drops of water. It takes all of my self-control to look him in the eyes and no where else. I have a boyfriend. Austin. Remember him? "What do you what?" His voice is somehow even hotter. It's matured now. It's deep and a bit rough. "What does it look like? I need to shower." I say back, gesturing with the clothes I'm holding. "Shouldn't you be going to bed?" "I'm not a little girl anymore. I don't have a set bedtime." I narrow my eyes at him. He's always treated me like I'm his best friend's annoying little sister. "Yeah, I can tell." He suddenly says, suggestively running his eyes down my body. I try not to shiver from the feel of his eyes on me. I clear my throat to get his eyes back to mine. "You can move now." "Oh, can I?" He raises an eyebrow and I glare at him in return. "Relax, little girl, I'm messing with you." He rolls his eyes before walking past me. "Let them go, Dante." I whip my head to see a small boy standing the clearing with blonde hair and a green cloak hanging from shoulders. He isn't very tall however he holds his stance well. He doesn't seem to be more than Cassandra's age. Maybe 12 at most. I abruptly turn my head back hearing the man holding a sword to my throat chuckling with a sinister grin. "Oh, poor boy, what are you go to do about it?" The yellow teeth gleam as he begins stalking towards the boy who does not look the least bit fazed. I look around at the other men who are following the leader. I pull Cassandra tighter to my back as I take small steps back. I keep my eye trained on the men but also fear for the naive boy. "Do you really want to test me Dante?" He asks raising a single eyebrow. For a minute the men stop their movements. I see their hesitation for fear... Fear of what? I take the moment to stick Cassandra behind a nearby tree. She crouches down while I pull my sword out from its place. "How do you know my name?" The scoundrel raises his sword challenging towards the boy before taking a final step towards him. Then the unexpected happens. The young boy chuckles so darkly. It sounded almost... demonic. All the men instinctively raise their swords. "Oh Dante, I didn't know your name... but you know someone dear to me." "Spit it out boy!" The once grinning man is now looking around frantically. I continue my eyes scanning the small boy. He looks directly me and gives me a small nod before saying one word that caused all hell to breaks loose. "Artemis." Artemis is not an ordinary girl.
