Hamilton and Laurens are adopted siblings, and live in an orphanage in the Mud Kingdom. And when a Mudwing prince raids the place, the two are run into the wild, and Laurens is taken and retrieved, but at a prince. Hami must keep collecting souls of royal dragons and give them to the kidnapper, and if he doesn't, Laurens would be killed. After hearing about this, the RainWing is furious, and yells at Hami. Even after telling him the reason, Laurens is still angry, but agrees to join his brother on his hunt for souls. But after being found out by the council, they are outlawed from all palaces and towns, and thrown into prison.
