Jonathan Morgenstern was supposed to be dead. Instead, he woke in prison under the Silent City with the Mark of Cain over his heart and very little recollection of what happened since the heavenly fire. Only his sister, mother, and a few others are willing to give him a second chance at redemption. However, dark forces refuse to stay down. Can the Shadow World learn to trust Jonathan to do the right thing and forgive him for his past mistakes? Can he?

*New goal: I PROMISE I'll try to get a chapter out every ten days! That's every 10th, 20th, and 30th of the month. Seven days was cutting it short for me, so hopefully this gives me more time to have things ready.

This is my first attempt at creating a full-scale fan fiction series of epic proportions based off of Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments. Most characters and creative content are credited to her.

SPOILERS ABOUND!: Most of my storyline gets its inspiration from the entire Mortal Instruments series and some content from The Infernal Devices. I strongly urge you to read the material if you haven't already and wish to know what's going on. I first began writing my fan fiction shortly after City of Heavenly Fire (CoHF) just came out. So, just for simplicity sake, other than an occasional reference to Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy, I try to treat all other work of fiction by Cassandra Clare as if it doesn't exist (ie. The Dark Artifices).

The entire series I am writing focuses mainly on the character Jonathan Morgenstern. This is my version of what would happen if he hadn't have died at the end of CoHF. It is a redemption saga. My story borrows from the last few chapters of CoHF in The Mortal Instruments book series and carries on from there. Although I love and appreciate how she handled the ending, I just loved this character so much that I had to give him a second chance at life!

After having her Runes removed at eighteen, she goes on and tries to live the life she's craved. A life free of danger, free of demons and free of anything that has to do with the Shadow World. But, as always, her past catches up with her in the form of an old friend with golden eyes and golden hair. After saving her life from an unexpected demon attack, he delivers a frightening message to her. A message that would change her future and the path she's taken. The Angel Raziel punished Clary for creating another rune after she was forbidden to do so. In order to kill her brother, Jonathan, and save the world from his wrath, she had to create a rune. The punishment was that she would lose all her memories of the Shadow World, of her family and friends, but most of all, of her Jace. When she said goodbye to her brother in Toronto and laid him to rest, her first rune disappears, her angelic rune. She does not tell anyone because it is Alec's wedding and she does not want to ruin it. At the reception, Jace takes Clary to the dance floor and starts with a speech that sounds like he is ready to propose to Clary, so she interrupts him by telling him how much she loves him, and after she passionately kisses him, says she needs to get air and leaves him standing on the dance floor. Jace stands there looking at her, feeling that something is off with Clary, and says "I love you too." after her. He decides to look in their room for her and finds a letter telling him of the punishment that the angels gave her, and that she would no longer have her memories of him, but that she would always love him. He falls to the floor and screams out because he has lost her again. He vows that he will love her from afar and will always protect her. What happens when and If Clary regains her memories? What happens when Jace makes a discovery that will forever change Jace and Clary's lives? Jace will have the biggest decision of his life to make. What will he decide? I do not own any of the Mortal Instruments characters.
