The Institute

Hi, this is a short story I wrote a few years ago.

Set in the future, after a disaster caused by factory chemicals seeping into the Earth, turns it to ruins. There are only few places left where things will grow. But around these places are government buildings, called Institutions aimed at make Earth livable again.

The story is about a girl who grew up in one of these Institutes, sheltered from the horrors of the outside.
It starts on the day of her test, a form of initiation into the adult way of life, which will sort out which class of the Institute's citizens she belongs to.
It also means that for the first time in her life she can see the outside world.

The story is part 1 of a series I'm working on. And so it tells the life of the little girl in a backward order from the beginning of her test.
