Thousands of years ago, the draconic Ryujin race died out with the exception of three survivors, who were stripped of their free will by a sinister dark mage who doubles as a headmaster of Autosum Academy, a battling school for students and magical animal companions, called totems.
One day, three students of the school meet a pickpocket named Matt, and are able to recruit him into AA. They participate in the world wide tournament, the Crystal Cup, where they find something much darker unfolding.
The Ryujin want freedom, and the Headmaster wants blood.
