Melina lives in Polina where ten gifted kids, each with a different gift from the other, must protect the Gate from people who want to misuse it. They are caled the Gaiters. Melina is one of the Gaiters with a very special gift, she can communicate with horses. When Polina is under attack, Melina and the other Gaiters must protect the Gate, whatever cost.
