Kate just left her home town for college. She left everything including her high school boyfriend, Jake, behind to go after her dream. Jake just left everything, including Kate, for his career. His family did not approve of him not going straight to college. He wanted to write and explore the world. Kevin left an amazing girlfriend at home but when he got to college and met Kate he fell head over heels, but Kate was still in love with Jake. Ally just wanted everything to stay the same. She had no desire to leave her house in Wickham, England until she saw Jake writing in her coffee shop. From the moment she saw him she knew she would do anything to wake up with him every morning.
