Sixteen year old Isaac is secretly gay and in love with his troubled best friend, but he's too afraid of losing Michael or upsetting his family to come out. When Michael shows interest in a girl, Isaac tries even harder to keep his feelings hidden, but he realizes that he is not the only person with secrets. His relationship with Michael changes drastically after an eventful double date, and, to his dismay, Isaac becomes the subject of a pregnancy scandal at school, which sends his family and friends into chaos. Isaac tries to balance his new romance, fear of exposure, and painful betrayals with his desire for secrecy, but he has no idea how the secrets of those around him have woven themselves into his own hidden life.

In a small, conservative town where conformity is prized, 16-year-old Alex finds himself struggling with his identity as a gay teenager. He's known for years that he's different from his friends, but he's kept his true self hidden, fearing judgment and rejection. The only person who seems to understand him is his best friend, Jamie, who's always been there to support him. One day, Alex's life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that his long-time crush, the popular and seemingly straight Ethan, has been secretly visiting an LGBTQ+ support group in a nearby town. Intrigued and filled with newfound hope, Alex decides to attend the support group meetings as well, using a pseudonym to protect his identity. As Alex navigates the complexities of his feelings for Ethan and the challenges of keeping his true self hidden, he begins to form a deep connection with the group's diverse and supportive members. Along the way, he discovers that people aren't always who they appear to be, and the town he thought he knew so well holds hidden secrets of its own. As Alex and Ethan's paths cross more frequently, they develop a unique bond that transcends friendship. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and love. However, they must navigate the obstacles of a judgmental society, the fear of being outed, and their own inner struggles. "Hidden Colors of the Heart" is a heartwarming LGBTQ+ romance that explores themes of identity, acceptance, and the power of love to break down barriers. It reminds readers that sometimes, the most unexpected people can become the greatest sources of support and love in our lives, even in the most unlikely of places.
