What if in the year 2045, the Shadowhuter race were capable of time travelling. A young shadowhunter Ella Rose Herondale was responsible for the fifth trip back in time to warn the past of the dangers they must face. Although the trips were dangerous, the outcome was always better. Some shadowhunters had died or became crazy on the journey back to the future. But Ella has nothing to lose. She along with her parabatai and four other shadow hunters are sent back in time. Hearts are broken and time is slipping away from their fingertips. When all hope is lost, a new light appears. But no one ever seems to realise what they have until its gone. We take things for granted. When Ella loses the second person that means the most to her, it all comes rushing back to her. The endless battle between loving him and hating him to save him, because to love, is to destroy.

The world of Shadowhunters is one of light and darkness, of family and tradition, of struggle and secrets buried deep. Years have passed since the events that placed Clary Fairchild, Jace Herondale, Isabelle Lightwood, Simon Lewis, Magnus Bane, and Alec Lightwood at the center of the battle between angels and demons. Their names are now legendary, whispered in the halls of the Institute, written in the Codex, and admired by a new generation. But legends are rarely as simple as they seem. For their children, growing up in the shadows of such heroes is both a burden and a blessing. Their stories are intertwined with old promises and new threats. The world has changed: the lines between the human and the supernatural are more blurred than ever, and new enemies awaken in the shadows that even the Elder Guard has failed to banish. But these youngsters are not merely heirs to a glorious tradition; they are also pioneers of their own destiny. With new powers and a new vision of what it means to be a Shadowhunter, they face challenges their parents could never have imagined. And just as love and loyalty make them stronger, secrets and old wounds threaten to tear them apart. When a mysterious relic is discovered-a powerful artifact that could upset the balance between Heaven and Hell-the fate of the Shadowhunters is tested once again. The children of Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, and Simon must learn to work with old allies and new friends, while grappling with their own identities and desires. But will they be strong enough to let go of the past and build a future they can call their own? This is not just a story of war and magic. It is a story of friendship, love, and finding your place in a world filled with darkness and light. A new chapter begins-and the fate of the Nephilim once again rests in the hands of a new generation. Welcome back to the world of the Shadowhunters.

{ snap, shatter, and howl pt. ii: being the sequel to mirror shards } Four months on from the Mandikhor attacks, Sydney Herondale is sure she's done. She's fallen in love (with Matthew Fairchild), she's starting to heal, both literally and metaphorically, from the wounds dealt to her in Romania during her travel year, she's got a flat in the City and with the mystery of her grandfather's identity solved, her research project is done and she can rest now. It's over. Or so she tells herself. You see, Sydney is magic. First that blinding rage when she goes into battle, then her strange ability to go ignored when she doesn't want people looking, and now, suddenly, she's starting to see magic, the ebb and flow and current of it like brushstrokes on Van Gogh's canvas. And if her grandfather's whispered, cryptic words are right, somehow all of these are meant to meld together to make...what? Well, she'd better find out, if she wants to make sure the magic is hers to control and hers alone. Not, of course, that anyone's making that easy.
