Most teens have it rough. But when the most popular kid wants to turn you into a piñata unless you erase your video game avatar, then you’ve really got problems. Unfortunately Luis Calderón's life is about to get even stranger.

The past few months, Luis has been searching for the source of Bade, an online gamespace part Minecraft, part World of Warcraft. Only now a rival player named DeusKiller is threatening to eliminate Luis unless he betrays his friends. What could be worse than getting bullied in two worlds?

Unfortunately, Luis Calderón's problems are about to get even worse—and weirder. After narrowly escaping the fight, Luis discovers that his best friend Ash is missing. The only clue she leaves Luis is in Bade. Is it possible that Ash was searching for the source too? 

To save his best friend, Luis goes on a quest that spans reality and fantasy, meatspace and cyberspace. Why does everyone want to find the source of Bade? Why is everyone looking for him? Could Bade actually be real?
